Upload a video or audio file
Type / in Add and pick Video file to upload a video or an audio file. Its speech is transcribed on our side and becomes a lesson.
Upload it
- Open Add, type / and pick Video file.
- Choose the file. Its name shows in the field, and the label says Video file with its size and 1 credit per 30 min.
- Tap Make lesson, or press Enter. Keep the app open until the upload has finished.
Videos can be MP4, MOV or WEBM. Audio files can be WEBM, M4A, MP3, OGG, WAV or FLAC. Video file takes both, so use it for a podcast episode or a recording from another app as well. If a file is too large, the field says so in place of the button.
What happens next
We take the sound from the file, transcribe it in parts and write the lesson from the whole transcript. The lesson uses 1 credit per started 30 minutes of the file (a file of 1 h 02 min uses 3), and its length comes off your transcription minutes. See Plan and usage.
A file with no words we can hear, such as music only, does not become a lesson.
When a link could not be read
Some posts cannot be read from their link, for example a private video, or a YouTube video without captions. The lesson screen then asks you to upload the video itself. See Upload the video instead.
